What services does Philadelphia K9 provide?

Philadelphia K9 offers a variety of K9 Team services that specialize in detecting narcotics, explosives, and other contraband. Our services are designed to meet the security requirements of your business, home, or any other location. We understand that every facility and treatment program is unique, so we have expert leaders who can advise and customize our working dog services to cater to your specific needs. Our team conducts thorough searches in diverse locations, ranging from professional sports stadiums to single-family homes.

Why should I use a private explosive or narcotic detection company over the police?

One of the primary reasons for hiring a private detection team is that police K-9 teams typically can only respond to direct threats. Local police departments are limited in their resources and cannot be proactive in attending numerous public events and venues unless they receive a credible threat. Private K9 sniffing companies can train their dogs to detect various odors that police do not have probable cause to search. This allows us to locate a wide range of substances.

How does Philadelphia K9 keep the search findings confidential?

When conducting searches, whether it’s for residential, business, or industrial purposes, safety is of utmost importance for the success of the institution. Philadelphia K9 Services understands this and provides discretion and confidentiality to avoid any unnecessary publicity. The results of our drug search are intended solely for your use, and we have no affiliation or obligation to report to any law enforcement or government organization.

Explosive searches are conducted differently from normal searches. In explosive searches, once our team detects a positive indication of an explosive odor, we will perform another sweep of the area to confirm. If the K9 indicates a second alert, we will immediately coordinate with the local authorities to neutralize the threat.

What are the benefits of using drug dogs to search my facility when I have staff that can do it themselves?

All of the K9 teams that provide narcotic detection services for Philadelphia K9 Services have been proven to be highly effective in offering a versatile, efficient, and real-time search and detection capability. By hiring our K9 teams, your treatment facility can enjoy several benefits, including:

  • Our K9 teams can detect concealed drugs with 100,000 times more effectiveness than a human, which can save you hours of search time and allow your staff to continue their day-to-day operations efficiently.
  • Our K9 teams can assist in preventing and deterring drug abuse within your treatment facility, providing additional peace of mind for all clients and ensuring a safe and sober living environment throughout all stages of their sobriety for a continuous successful, sustainable recovery.
  • By hiring our K9 teams, you may have the potential to reduce your liability associated with various offered treatment programs.

What narcotic and explosive substances are Philadelphia K9 services dogs able to detect?

Our drug detection K9s are trained to find most illegal and legal narcotics, including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, meth, ecstasy, and LSD, as well as commonly abused medications such as Hydrocodone, Oxycontin, Xanax, Vicodin, as well as some over the counter medications.

Our explosive K9s are trained to detect the same explosive odors as your local police department, including IED-type explosives. They use both traditional explosive dog detection and person-borne explosive detection to track moving targets. Our explosive K9s are trained and certified to the same standards as required by the DOD, TSA, DOS, and other agencies.

What training is provided to the dogs?

At Philadelphia K9 Services, we place great emphasis on the training of our canines and treat each dog with the utmost respect and dignity. We understand that the safety, security, comfort, and overall well-being of our K9s are of the highest importance. Our K9s are trained using Operant Conditioning and positive reinforcement methods, where they are encouraged to perform during simulated but realistic scenarios. This training technique has proven to be the most efficient in the industry, ensuring peak performance in the field.

Additionally, our K9 sniffing teams are certified to the same standards as the DOD, TSA, DOS, and other agencies, with some of them holding more than three certifications. This provides unparalleled checks and balances, ensuring our K9s and their handlers perform at their best.

Where is it legal to use a private K9 company?

Private K9 detection is legal in almost all places where we have a contract to search. This includes homes, schools, businesses, government buildings, military bases, event facilities, cars, boats, and airplanes. Although some municipalities may have regulations on the use of private K9 services, it is not very common. In the rare instance that a municipality requires advanced notification or a special permit, Philadelphia K9 Services will handle the coordination with the municipality on behalf of the client.

What frequency should I schedule searches?

Preventing potential safety risks is of utmost importance in facilities such as treatment centers, schools, hospitals, event spaces, and shelters. To ensure the safety of all clients and staff, we recommend conducting narcotic K9 searches every two to four weeks. These searches can help maintain a secure environment for your visitors and community members.

What if my facility has specific search requests?

At Philadelphia K9, we make it our priority to fulfill the unique needs of each of our clients. Prior to conducting any search, we offer our clients the option to choose how they want the search to be conducted. Whether you prefer complete discretion or additional exposure for further deterrence, we will do everything possible follow all requests provided by our clients to ensure a successful and satisfactory experience.

How long does a search take?

The length of time a search takes will depend on several factors. Factors that affect how long a search will take can include the size of the area, how many rooms, the type of contents in the area, and if vehicles will be searched as well. A typical narcotics sweep in a residential house with 2500 square feet, takes approximately forty-five minutes.

What is a typical fee for services?

Our aim is to secure the best possible price for you. Pricing is determined by factors such as distance, frequency, size, and urgency. Please feel free to contact us at 610-517-3717 to get an estimate.
